Hello from July!
Happy July to you! Hopefully you are finding reprieve from the heat wave that has hit most of the US and Europe at large. Welcome as we continue our journey through the Count of Monte Cristo.
The journey has become much slower as life gets busy and misfortune befalls on love ones - the more relatable of the feelings of the good friends around Edmond Dantes as they try to set him free with little to no result.
It is interesting to see how the much time is spent really understanding the despair and struggle Dantes is working through while years past by while the world moves forward. You get to experience his emotions as he processes what has happened without his control.
His emotions are much darker and distraught compared to my latest piece - Long Awaited. This piece really focus on the emotions of a long journey return home. Unlike Into the Cove, the perspective is switch from the eyes of the crew on the Pharaon as they steadily approach home port. In the distance you can see Edmond already racing on ahead up the street past the crowd to see his beloved Merecedes.
Yet we remain on the Pharaon watching as two character - Morrel and Danglar have very different emotions towards Dantes. One is filled with pride and admiration while the other is consumed by jealousy and hatred.
Sometimes returning home after long periods of time can come with different emotions than expected especially when things don't turn out the way you hope it would. There is a weird serenity thinking of those moments back in time of peaceful and joyous moments that can come with inner turmoil.
